London 2012 artistic gymnastics men's rings is the second of its kind to make it to the list of doodles featured during the Olympics.

The first artistic gymnastics men's rings related Google doodle was posted in the 2008 Olympics held at Beijing. The doodle depicted a monkey performing gymnastics with rings forming the two O's of Google.

During the summer 2008 Olympics, there were three different styles of gymnastics that were contested namely artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline. The artistic gymnastics events were held at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium from August 9-19.

China ranked number one in artistic gymnastics followed by Japan and USA in the men's event. The women's event saw China on top of the medal table followed USA and Romania.

Overall, China won with 11 gold medals, 2 silver and 5 bronze. USA came second and Russia was ranked third.

It will be interesting to see what sport finds its place in Wednesday's Google doodle.
