The Kindle Paperwhite is now available at Rs. 8,999, and the 3G version at Rs. 11,999, translating to a Rs. 2,000 price cut.
The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G were launched back in January priced at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 13,999 respectively.
The Kindle Paperwhite ebook readers include a higher contrast display, a better built-in light, a faster processor, improved touch technology, and a few software enhancements than their predecessors.
One of the major highlights of the software features in the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G e-readers is the integration with Goodreads, a book lovers' community. This new feature allows Kindle owners to see what their friends are reading, share highlights, and rate the books they read with other Goodreads users, all from their Kindle. New Smart Lookup integrates a full dictionary definition with other reference information about a word, character, topic or book via X-Ray and Wikipedia.
For specifications, the Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite 3G feature a 6-inch display with Carta e-paper, 212ppi pixel density, optimised font technology, and 16-level grey scale.
The ebook readers come with 4GB inbuilt storage that can store thousands of books and also support free cloud storage for Amazon content.
The company back in September revamped its lineup of Kindle ebook readers with the launch of the new Kindle at Rs. 5,999 in India.
