  • Third season starts October 5 7pm on Colors Infinity
  • It adds Harry Potter's Draco Malfoy to its cast
  • Three other DC Comics shows to follow

The third season of The Flash, the superhero drama with Grant Gustin as the eponymous lead, will premiere Tuesday, October 4 8pm ET on The CW network in the US and Wednesday, October 5 7pm IST on Colors Infinity in India.

That’s typical of how the show has operated since the beginning back in 2014, starting on the first Tuesday of October. The third season of the show draws from the comics’ Flashpoint storyline, and also adds Tom Felton – Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy – to its cast as a Central City Police Department investigator named Julian Albert, and a colleague of Barry Allen (aka The Flash).

Speaking about his role, Felton told SciFiNow: “He’s a forensic expert, so he treads on the toes of much of what Barry is good at. Hence they have a slightly abrasive relationship at first.”

The third year of The Flash is also the year CW is giving four of its DC Comics shows – Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and The Flash – a four-way crossover event. If you only follow Allen’s adventures, expect characters from other shows to drop in during the eighth episode this season.

The Flash may have been borne out of Arrow as a spin-off to begin with, but it’s become very much its own show in its two seasons. That’s why the show’s – and Gustin’s – fans were rightly disappointed when Warner Bros announced they had recast the role of the costumed fighter for their DC Extended Universe, which contains the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Man of Steel.

Followed by the third season premiere of The Flash on Tuesday, the fifth season of Arrow will start on Wednesday, October 5 (Thursday, October 6 7pm on Colors Infinity), Supergirl’s season two on Monday, October 10 (Tuesday, October 11 7pm on Zee Café), and the second season of Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday, October 13 (Friday, October 14 7pm on Colors Infinity).
