Google Play Showcases the Best Apps, Games, Books, and Movies of 2015

As it did last year, Google has introduced the 'Best of 2015' section on Google Play including selections across apps, games, and entertainment. Under the new section, Google has listed sub categories namely Best Games of 2015, Best Apps of 2015, 2015 Top-Selling Movies, 2015 Top-Selling Books, and Best of Newsstand 2015.

The best apps and games list includes around 50 selections from 2015. All the apps and games listed in the 'Best' section have high star and user ratings.

Notably, majority of games listed are free. The 'Best Games' section lists a few paid apps including Minecraft: Story Mode, Hitman: Sniper, League of Stick man, and Framed, among others. Some of the top games listed under best games include Talking Tom Jetski, Angry Birds 2, Minions Paradise, and Stupid Zombies.

Some of the top apps of 2015 listed under 'Best Apps' section includes Colorfy - Coloring Book, Truecaller, and Gaana. Interestingly, the 'Best Apps of 2015' list only includes free apps. The 2015 Top-Selling Movies and Books list include over 50 selections. The Best of Newsstand 2015 list only includes 20 selections.

It's worth noting that the 'Best of 2015' list shows the selection of apps, games, movies, books, and newsstand based on regions.

Google Play recently received a major overhaul which was first teased by the company in October. The revamp include creation of Apps & Games and Entertainment tabs, amongst other changes. Previously, the Google Play homepage shows combined contents from all the sections including Apps, Games, Movies and TV, Music, Newsstand, and Books.
