Snapchat Services Disrupted on Monday, Snap Confirms
  • Snapchat was not working for many users on Monday
  • Snap has confirmed the service outage for many hours
  • The Snapchat service was affected in the US and Europe

Millions of users across the world, especially in Europe and the US were left stranded when the popular photo-sharing app Snapchat crashed globally for several hours.

According to independent website Down Detector that monitors web outages, thousands of users reported problems with sending snaps, receiving snaps, login issues, and connection problems late on Monday, the Express reported.

Snapchat acknowledged the technical glitch on its support page on Twitter on Monday, saying the company is aware of the issue and looking into it. For now, there is no message saying the issue has been fixed, though Down Detector has seen a drop in reports in the meanwhile.

Some users went to Twitter and shared their frustration."I've been sending people abuse on snapchat for not replying to me only to discover it's down. Oops?" one user tweeted. "Snapchat just went down. I can literally feel the panic of a thousand generations in my bones. #snapchat," another user posted.

The Snapchat outage follows other high-profile outages of Apple and Google services last week. Apple saw several services disrupted on Friday, including App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Store, iTunes U, Mac App Store, and the Volume Purchase Program. Apple said it resolved the issue the same day.

As for Google's outage last week, affected services included Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, YouTube, and Google Maps. The company also fixed the issue, within a few hours.
