Unboxing videos are popular among gadget enthusiasts and this is one reason why technology and gadgets focused websites feature these. They certainly help in building up the excitement leading up to the device's final review by giving a glimpse of the package in which it comes.

However, device makers usually don't post unboxing videos by themselves. Microsoft has decided to change this by posting a video where it unboxes its own gaming console, the Xbox One, way before it goes on sale.

While the next generation gaming console will hit shelves in November (at least in the US), Microsoft has posted a new video that features the unboxing of an Xbox One unit.

Aptly titled, 'Unboxing Xbox One,' Microsoft talks about what's in the box in the 3 minutes and 32 seconds video. The video features Lawrence "Larry" Hryb, also known by his Xbox Live gamertag Major Nelson, the Director of Programming for Xbox Live, who unveils all the components of the console including the new Kinect Sensor, headset, the controller, a 4K rated HDMI cable, documentation, power chord, the power brick, and the console.

He then goes on to describe the components in detail, starting with the console.

Major Nelson describes the console's colour as liquid black, and shows its slot-loading Blu-ray drive on the front. He then turns to the left side to show the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed port and the binding button for the controller. He then turns to the console's back pointing to the different ports including the power port, HDMI output, optical audio out, HDMI in port to connect the satellite or cable box, 2 USB 3.0 ports, the port for Kinect and a Gigabit Ethernet port and a Kengsinton security lock.

He also details the Xbox One controller which has a newly designed D pad, impulse triggers at the back, and a Chrome D-pad, in addition to the Day One edition logo for the Day One. He then talks about the new Kinect sensor highlighting the improved gesture and voice control, greater field of view, and 1080p Skype video. He also showcases a mono chat headset that will be bundled with both the Day one and standard editions of the Xbox One.

The Xbox One comes with a 500GB hard drive, an 8-core Jaguar CPU, 8GB RAM, a Blu-ray player, built-in Wi-Fi, the new Kinect and the Xbox One Wireless Controller. With the Xbox One, Microsoft has aimed at creating a living room solution integrating gaming with entertainment.

The Xbox One game console would launch in November in 21 countries. It will be available for $499 in the United States, £429 in Britain and 499 euros in Europe. However, a report mentioned that Asian gamers will have to wait for another year, as the console will enter the Asian market only in late 2014, a year after its launch in other regions. Even in Asia, the console will be available initially only in select markets including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and India.
