Amazon India has announced that its 'Great India Sale' will take place from August 8-10, and the company says that it will offer great deals on products from various categories such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and PCs, apart from other non-tech categories. For now, no details of the deals are available.

The company has said that with the launch of its Prime Membership programme in India, the Prime members will have a 30-minute early access to the deals available as part of the sale. The customers can also choose from a suit of fast and guaranteed delivery services including one-day, two-day, same day, scheduled, Sunday and Morning Deliveries, the company said in its emailed statement on Sunday.

Last week, the Amazon launched its Prime subscription service in India, which comes with unlimited one-day and two-day delivery options with no minimum order size and early access to some deals on Amazon.

Users can currently sign up for the Prime service through Amazon India's website, starting with a 60-day free trial. As it stands now, if you sign up, Amazon Prime will cost Rs. 499 for a year after the free trial ends. However, the usual price for Amazon Prime in India is slated to be Rs. 999 per year.

Last year, the company offered discounts on Xbox One console and games, Apple MacBook Air 13-inch, Micromax 49-inch full HD LED TV, iPhone 6 and Kindle e-readers as part of its 'Great Indian Freedom Sale' and 'Great Indian Festive Sale'.
