Google on Monday introduced a new Devices and Activity dashboard that helps manage devices linked to a user's Google account. Alongside, the company has also launched a security wizard for 'Google for Work' accounts that details the necessary steps to take to ensure security of the account.

The Devices and Activity dashboard gives users a comprehensive view of all devices that are linked to their Google accounts. It shows all the devices that have accessed the user's account in the last 28 days, or are currently signed-in. Apart from the time and location of the devices that accessed the account, users can also 'Remove access' of any device from this page - which automatically signs the user out.

The new security wizard for Google for Work account holders brings features like providing contact information for easy account recovery (if the domain security policy allows it), or reviewing recent account activity and account permissions.

"Security in the cloud is a shared responsibility and keeping your company information secure is at the core of what we do everyday. By making users more aware of their security settings and the activity on their devices, we can work together to stay a step ahead of any bad guys," says Eran Feigenbaum, Director of Security Google for Work.

The recently rebranded Google for Work is actually a decade-old division responsible for corporate sales, which was earlier known as Google Enterprise. Google believed that the simpler name will make it easier to persuade corporate technology managers to adopt many of the same tools that their employees already use in their personal lives. The lines between work and leisure have been blurring as more people rely on smartphones and tablets for many common computing tasks.
