Asus VivoBook 4K With 15.6-Inch UHD Display, Windows 10 Launched

As happens with the release of every new Windows version, OEMs are slowly updating their existing laptop lineups and launching new models that offer support for the new desktop operating system - Windows 10 - from Microsoft and its new features. One such company that has been aggressively launching new laptops is Asus. The Taiwanese technology giant has launched a number of laptops, ranging from low-end to high-end segments since the release of Windows 10 on July 29. On Monday, it launched the Asus VivoBook 4K to broaden its high-end offerings.

The highlight of the Asus VivoBook 4K, as its name suggests, is its 4K/ UHD (3840x2160 pixel) IPS display that maintains a 16:9 aspect ratio. Consumers have a choice between fifth or sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor, with the base model featuring the dual-core Core i7-5500U. Users can choose up to 12GB of DDR3L SDRAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 940M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM GPU. On the storage front, users have a choice between 500GB 5400rpm HDD, 500GB 7200rpm HDD, 1TB 5400RPM HDD, 1.5TB 5400rpm HDD, 2TB 5400rpm HDD, 128GB SSD, or 256GB SSD.

Other features of the Vivobook 4K notebook include a Super-Multi DVD player, a 3-in-1 card reader, a VGA camera, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, one HDMI port, one VGA port, and one LAN RJ45 jack. Weighing around 2.3kg, the laptop also features 2W stereo speakers, and a 2-cell 37Whr battery,

The company says that the display features a wide 178-degree viewing capabilities, and an 72 percent NTSC, vivid colours, coupled with company's homegrown ASUS Eye Care mode to reduce blue-light levels by 33% "to ensure a comfortable viewing experience."

On the software front, the VivoBook 4K runs Windows 10. The brushed-metal laptop comes in Icicle Gold, Glacier Grey, Black, and Navy Blue colour options. The company hasn't unveiled the retail price or availability of the laptop yet.
