Search engine giant Google and Taiwanese hardware and electronics firm Acer have released Chromebase for meetings - an all-in-one standalone secure video conferencing device.

The $799 (roughly Rs. 52,000) device, which has a 24-inch, 1080p touchscreen, high-definition conferencing camera, four microphones and two stereo speakers, is specifically tricked out for video conferences.

Acer claims that the device has the largest display on any Chrome operating system (OS) computer.

The offering is Google's second play in the video conferencing market. It released the first Chromebox for meetings with Acer in 2014.

The Chromebase connects to Google Hangout meetings that can support up to 25 participants. Google says the Chromebase is available in the US, Canada, Britain, Ireland, and Australia and is expected to be coming to other markets soon.

"We're also happy to announce new features to our remote fleet management tools," Vidya Nagarajan, Senior Product Manager, Chrome for Work, said in a blog post announcing the new Chromebase for meetings. "Administrators can receive alert notifications and track health of their fleet of Chrome devices for meetings. They can remotely diagnose and troubleshoot audio, video quality and bandwidth problems. Administrators can also customize the interface using their own background images."
