Shilpa Shetty Kundra on the Apps and Gadgets She Loves

Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra might be most famous for her film roles, but she's also an Apple fan, and has launched her own mobile phone brand, Viaan Mobiles. The company launched five phones in November 2015, priced up to Rs. 12,999.

The unique selling point of Viaan Mobiles is the V-Assist offered - a 24x7 personalised concierge service which will provide users details on best deals on products and services. Currently, V-Assist offers services in the field of travel, entertainment, shopping, gifting, and utilities. The services will provide offers for any additional transactions such as travel, movie and event bookings, cruises, shopping with Shilpa and Raj's Best Deal TV and also other services such as delivering cakes, flowers, mobile recharges, and bills. The services are currently available through a phone call in two languages, English and Hindi.

The actress talked to Gadgets 360 about her tech setup, and the apps and gadgets that make her tick.

Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use and why do you like it?
Shilpa Shetty Kundra: I use the iPhone 6. Separately, I use an iMac computer at home; it's great for doing homework with [my son] Viaan, listening to music, watching movies, and more. I am not really a gadget freak unlike my husband who needs to have them all as and when they launch.

What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without and why?
Shilpa Shetty Kundra: Well, WhatsApp is on top of the list, I have my friends, family groups on it and it makes life easier to quickly communicate. That's followed by Instagram so I can reach out to my fans and send out latest updates, and in third place I guess it would have to be Twitter, for similar reasons.

What is one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without, and why?
Shilpa Shetty Kundra: Hmmm... I used to carry a digital dictaphone to remember my lines or just to record my thoughts but nowadays it's all built into the mobile phone. I carry my power bank which is an elegant 2-in-1 mirror and power bank for my phone, which always needs charging.

What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Shilpa Shetty Kundra: I will have to be biased here and say my dream technology is our concierge technology. V-Assist is fantastic, we have over 100 concierges answering calls and queries of all Viaan smartphone users. You can ask for literally anything under the sun and they have a solution. It's going to be a game changer for smartphone users.

How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Shilpa Shetty Kundra: I have never really been into technology but you have to move with time. It definitely makes life easier everything from Apple TV, to the Internet, I wonder how we lived without all of this. Now I can send one pic, one file or just communicate any message to hundreds of people at the same time automatically. Calendars, updates, news it's all at our fingertips making life easier for us.
