  • The iPhone 7 is also tipped to sport a 256GB storage option.
  • The larger iPhone 7 is once again tipped with a dual camera setup.
  • iPhones with Oled display to be introduced in 2017.

A fresh iPhone 7 leak reinforces faith in the storage upgrade rumour doing the rounds recently. A supply chain report by TrendForce reveals that Apple may ditch the 16GB base storage variant, and upgrade it to 32GB.

The TrendForce report backs rumours of a possible 256GB storage option, without specifying whether only the 'Pro' or larger 5.5-inch version will support it, and adds Apple may ditch the 64GB variant altogether, replacing it with a 128GB variant.

The report also says that the dual camera setup is coming with the 5.5-inch iPhone 7, and that Apple will use 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM will be included to process the images taken from the dual camera, while the smaller iPhone will retain 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. "The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 will be the first in series to have 3GB of memory in the form of four stacked 6Gb mono-die modules. The additional memory is used to process the images taken from the dual-camera," the report reads.

The one thing that the report refutes is the rumour of three variants being introduced, instead of the traditional two. The research firms says that the iPhone 7 will come in two sizes - 4.7-inch, and 5.5-inches.

It also reiterates that Apple won't include Oled displays this year, and will launch them in iPhones in 2017 or 2018. Apart from this, past leaks suggest an A10 processor, an the ommision of the 3.5mm audio jack. The upcoming iPhone is said to be 1mm slimmer, and house a Smart Connector at the back for connecting the Smart Keyboard cover or other device like charging docks.

Finally, TrendForce's estimates this year's iPhone production volume to be at 216.5 million units, down 8.2 percent from 2015.
