HTC's much talked about new flagship smartphone, the One (M8) is now official. The Taiwanese handset maker, unlike its many Android smartphone maker rivals, has announced the availability and price of the HTC One (M8) immediately after the global launch in markets like the UK and US.

Notably, the company had revealed to NDTV Gadgets that the India launch can only be expected in the third week of April.

The HTC One (M8) will be available in the US through mobile carriers AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. The new flagship smartphone from HTC has been priced at $649 off-contract (16GB), which translates to roughly Rs. 39,250.

It's worth pointing out that the One (M8) is currently available only at Verizonwhile AT&T and Sprint have started taking pre-orders, though the device will not be in-store stock until April 11. T-Mobile is also expected to start the pre-orders of the One (M8) in April only.

On the other hand, the HTC One (M8) is now available in the UK via various online retailers; the Phones4u is offering the smartphone at GBP 529.95 (16GB model), which translates to roughly Rs. 53,000, while CarphoneWarehouse is selling the One (M8) at GBP 549.95, or roughly Rs. 55,000. The HTC One (M8) is also available with no upfront cost starting at GBP 42 a month from Phones4u and CarphoneWarehouse.

HTC on Tuesday unveiled its One (M8) after months of leaks, at an event in New York.

The One (M8) runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the company's brand new Sense 6 UI on top, which HTC is calling the biggest upgrade since Sense debuted.

The phone is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, alongside 2GB of RAM.

The HTC One (M8) comes with a 5-inch full-HD display and will be available in 16GB and 32GB storage options, with support for expandable storage via microSD cards of up to 128GB capacity.

The HTC One (M8) comes with a body that's '90 percent metal' and exudes the same premium feel as its predecessor.

The highlight of the HTC One (M8) is the dual camera setup that puts a 4-UltraPixel camera alongside a depth sensing camera that lets you do cool things like refocusing images after they've been clicked and other stuff. A 5-megapixel front camera is included as well. The phone packs a 2600mAh battery and supports Nano-SIM.

HTC One (M8) will be available in Gunmetal Grey, Amber Gold, and Glacial Silver colour options.
