Huawei has made the larger version of its Honor 6 smartphone, Honor 6 Plus, official in China. The handset was announced during a company event in China on Tuesday. The dual-SIM smartphone comes in two variants. While the CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,500) version comes with 4G connectivity support on only one SIM, the CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,700) variant comes with both SIM slots supporting 4G networks. The handset is yet to be listed on the company website.

Pre-orders of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus will begin starting Wednesday with shipping commencing from next week. The firm has made no announcements for the global availability of the handset.

Also known by the name Huawei Glory 6 Plus, the handset runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, which is layered by the company's own Emotion UI 3.0. Sporting a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display, the most talked about feature of the Honor 6 Plus is its HTC One (M8)-like dual 8-megapixel rear camera sensors, which the company calls "symmetrical dual camera technology".

The Honor 6 Plus camera sensors are said by the company to capture 13-megapixel resolution images with twice the amount of light as compared to a single sensor, take 0.1 seconds to autofocus, and use SLR-grade ISP technology. The smartphone also offers a number of image editing effects, as reported by Gizmo China. The front-facing camera is said to bear a 5-megapixel sensor for video chatting and other purposes.

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus is powered by an octa-core Kirin 925 processor with Mali T628 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The Huawei's own Kirin 925 processor also offers Cat. 6 LTE connectivity at 300Mbps. The Huawei Honor 6 features 32GB of inbuilt storage via microSD card (up to 128GB). A 3600mAh battery backs the smartphone.

The compact version of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus, the Honor 6, was launched in September this year in India, priced at Rs. 19,999. Some of the features shared between both the handsets are the full-HD resolution display, 3GB of RAM, and the 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Honor 6 however runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box with the older Emotion UI 2.3. Besides a smaller 5-inch screen, the smartphone runs on an octa-core Silicon Kirin 920 processor.
