As we are approaching CES 2015, companies have begun teasing their upcoming devices for the consumer electronics extravaganza.

On Monday, Qualcomm took to Twitter with its new Snapdragon 800 processor that will power a smartphone, which appears to be the LG G Flex successor.

While the tweet reads, "A new #Snapdragon 800 powered smartphone is launching next week at @intlCES - here's a first look", the image along with it (see above) hints towards the successor of the LG G Flex (which may be named the LG G Flex 2) as it features similar back buttons and the distinctive self-healing polycarbonate patterned back of the original.

It is not clear whether Qualcomm is referring to an already-introduced Snapdragon 800 chipset, or something new. Qualcomm is known to be working to see the release of the new 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset in early 2015, and the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE is expected to feature this chipset, offering the first-of-its-kind LTE-A tri-band carrier aggregation. The successor of the LG G Flex however is not expected to feature the latest top-end SoC however, with the first-generation flexible display smartphone featuring a slightly dated processor (Snapdragon 800 MSM8974) at launch presumably due to design limitations. This may change however as LG has had some time to refine its technology.

Earlier this month, rumours came out suggesting several issues in the development of the Snapdragon 810 which might cause a delay in its rollout, but then the company's Senior Director of Public Relations, Jon Carvill, cleared the air by stating that everything is on track.

Carvill said that, "I can tell you that everything with Snapdragon 810 remains on track and we expect commercial devices to be available in 1H 2015."

As per reports, the new 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 will include four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.9GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz.
