The Xiaomi Product Launch event on Wednesday started with the company's India MD Manu Kumar Jain on the stage, who started by recapping the last few months for the company in the country. He reiterated that Xiaomi has been the number one smartphone brand in India for the last eight quarters. Jain also revealed that Xiaomi has been the biggest online smartphone brand for 11 quarters with 46 percent market share.

Jain then moved to discuss Xiaomi's offline presence in the country. He announced that Xiaomi now has 2,000 Mi Stores across the country in small towns and villages. He then invited Xiaomi's Raghu Reddy to detail the Mi A3.  Reddy began by talking about Mi A series' history in India. Xiaomi has launched two Android One phones under the Mi A series - Mi A1 and Mi A2, apart from the Mi A3 that is being introduced today.

He then moved to Mi A3, which uses a new Helix Wave pattern (specific to Blue variant) on the back. The phone will be offered in three colours - Not Just Blue, More Than White, Kind of Grey. It uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. Mi A3 is also slimmer than the Mi A2. Reddy said that the reduced width of the phone makes it easier to handle.

On the camera front, the Mi A3 comes with a triple rear camera setup that houses a 48-megapixel primary Sony IMX586 sensor with an f/1.79 lens, 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a 118-degree wide-angle f/1.79 lens, and a 2-megapixel tertiary sensor for depth sensing. The smartphone also has the 32-megapixel selfie camera at the front with an f/2.0 lens.

Thanks to Android One, the Mi A3 gets support for Google Assistant, Google Photos, Google Lens, Digital Wellbeing tools, and more. The phone will be getting security updates for three years and will be among the first phones to receive Android Q.
