Micromax, BSNL Partner to Offer Free Data Usage on Select Devices

Micromax on Tuesday has announced a partnership with BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) to offer bundled mobile Internet benefits of up to 2GB off free data per quarter to consumers purchasing any of 6 Micromax devices - namely the Micromax Bolt A37 and Bolt A37B (smartphones), X070, X088 (feature phones), Funbook Mini P410i (tablet), and MMX377G (datacard).

According to Micromax, the 2GB of free data per quarter offer is applicable for 12 months from activation for all 6 Micromax devices with the bundled BSNL connection offers. The offer also includes free 500 minutes voice calls (on net) per quarter for 12 months, but consumers will have to get a plan voucher of Rs. 153 to activate the freebies.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Vineet Taneja, Chief Executive Office, Micromax said, "At Micromax, it has been our constant endeavour to understand the Indian consumers and come up with products and services which act as a solution for their needs. We are delighted to partner with BSNL, as this collaboration will be an excellent unification of BSNL's offerings and Micromax's design capability thus enabling millions of Indian consumers to enjoy seamless connectivity through data usage, affordable call rates and other VAS services."

The partnership will further provide a major boost to better connectivity and Internet adoption as BSNL's pan-India network coupled with Micromax devices, backed by a strong channel and retail presence which will take these offerings across length and breadth of the country, Taneja added.

"The association will create immense opportunities for customers by offering them high speed 3G data. BSNL has already provided 3G coverage in more than 2,300 cities and towns of India and is committed to provide 3G coverage to additional towns," BSNL CMD A N Rai said.
