OnePlus on Monday introduced an extended warranty programme called On-Guard for the future OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X customers in Europe. It would give the new OnePlus users added coverage from breakage, liquid damage, accidental damage, and vandalism among others for the handset. This follows the launch of a similar program last month in India, powered by B2X.

The company made it clear that the extended warranty programme - which is powered by Simplesurance - is not available for customers who have already bought the OnePlus One or OnePlus 2. The company says it is working with an 'esteemed' insurance partner for the US and Canada as well.

European customers have to head to OnePlus.net website and buy the 'On-Guard by Simplesurance' service during the checkout process for the OnePlus smartphone. They would then be directed to complete payment for the insurance policy to Simplesurance. They can also contact Simplesurance within 15 days of handset purchase to buy the On-Guard service if they forgot buying it during checkout. They can report their claim by following the steps outlined on the Simplesurance website. Users can go either for 12 months coverage for EUR 39.99 or 24-month coverage for EUR 64.99.

"We believe these ventures will help to create a more positive user experience for our fans. We're not offering this to make money - in fact, it's quite the opposite. This is an investment we are making to focus on improving our customer support until it is closer to perfect," said the blog post.

OnepPus last month rolled out two smartphone coverage options in the form of B2X Service and B2X Protect for the OnePlus 2 in India. While the B2X Service costs Rs. 999, the B2X Protect service costs Rs. 1,299. The same service will be offered for the OnePlus X once the smartphone becomes available to purchase in India.
