OnePlus on Friday announced that all legal proceedings with Micromax in India have been resolved and the cases were withdrawn through mutual consent. This will mean that all OnePlus One smartphone users will be receiving Cyanogen OS OTA (over-the-air) updates the same as other markets.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer marked its entry into the Indian market late last year and was soon hit by a legal snag based on Micromax's plea that its exclusive rights to Cyanogen OS in India were being infringed by the Chinese company. The plea further led Cyanogen to clarify that it will not offer OTA updates to OnePlus One smartphones sold in India, and Micromax being awarded with a temporary ban on the sale of OnePlus One handsets in the country. However, the court later lifted the ban on sale of OnePlus One smartphones.

Announcing the news via a press statement, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager - India, OnePlus said, "OnePlus remains vindicated of the recent trials and tribulations that have surrounded the company due to legal tussle with Micromax over exclusivity on CyanogenOS. We are happy to confirm that all 'OnePlus One' users in India will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around of the world."

OnePlus within six months of its entry into the Indian market created some in-roads and the Chinese company even claimed that India accounted for 7 percent of OnePlus One shipments last year.

The Chinese company last month announced that the '2014 flagship killer' smartphone would be available without invites 'forever'. The announcement also applied to India. The company stressed that 'open sales' were being announced to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the OnePlus One's global launch.
