Oppo India has started sending media invites for an event on April 5 for a "camera phone launch", where the company is expected to reveal the R9 and R9 Plus smartphones in India. The Chinese company has also started teasing the "selfie-expert" handsets on Facebook and Twitter.

In its last tweet, Oppo Mobile India wrote, "The most dazzling and eye- catching finish, that will make heads turn. Coming Soon!" An earlier tweet from Oppo read, "A phone that recognizes you. Coming Soon!"

At this point, it's not clear whether the company will launch both phones at the same event. We will have to wait till April 5 to see what Oppo has in store for us.

To refresh, Oppo unveiled its new camera-focused R9 and R9 Plus smartphones earlier this month in China. The Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus have been priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs. 29,000) and CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 34,000) respectively.

Both devices sport the same design with a fingerprint scanner placed right below the display which the company touts will unlock in just 0.2 seconds. The noticeable difference between the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus is in screen size. The R9 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Amoled display while the R9 Plus features a 6-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Amoled display.

Under the hood, the Oppo R9 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor clocked at 2GHz while the Oppo R9 Plus packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (MSM8976) processor clocked at 1.8GHz. Both the smartphones feature 4GB of RAM. Both the handsets run ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
