Panasonic P81 With Swappable Back Panels Teased for May Launch in India

Panasonic India is all set to expand its Android smartphone portfolio in the country. The company has teased a new smartphone - the Panasonic P81 - in a teaser poster that suggests swappable coloured back panels.

The company will launch the P81 in India in May, and with the launch it will have seven smartphones in its India portfolio. So far Panasonic has six Android smartphones in the country - the Panasonic P11, Panasonic P31, Panasonic P51, Panasonic T11, Panasonic T21 and Panasonic T31.

The poster, posted on the Panasonic's India Facebook page, reads, "A new colour everyday. Play more. Dress up your phone," along with "coming soon May 2014". It also shows that P81 will come preloaded with apps like Evernote, Readwhere, Hungama etc. Other than that Panasonic hasn't given out any other details about the phone.

Earlier the company had launched Panasonic P31 smartphone in India, priced at Rs. 11,990. The dual-SIM supporting handset (Micro-SIM card only) runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The Panasonic P31 features a 5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixel) display with 'ultra-oleophobic' coating. The device is also powered by an unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core CPU, and an unknown amount of RAM. The P31 is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash support, along with a VGA front-facing camera. The rear camera is also capable of recording full-HD (1080p) videos.

The Panasonic P31 smartphone bears 4GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The connectivity options housed in the mid-range handset include 3G, FM radio, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth 4.0. The P31 is backed by a 2000mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 13 hours of 2G talk time and 9 hours of 3G talk time.
