The Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) smartphone that has been in rumours and leaks for the past few weeks, appears to have quietly been launched by the South Korean tech giant in Dubai.

The smartphone was on for sale for AED 499 (roughly Rs. 9,000) at a Jumbo Electronics showroom as seen in the image shared by a user (via GSMArena). The handset is not yet listed on the retailer's website or on the company website.

As seen in the image, the Gold colour variant of Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and features a 4.5-inch WVGA (800x480 pixels) resolution Super Amoled display. It packs a quad-core 1.3GHz processor (unspecified) under-the-hood, clubbed with 1GB RAM. Other features mentioned for the handset are 8GB inbuilt storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2050mAh battery.

For reference, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat-based Samsung Galaxy J1 is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. On the camera front, the Galaxy J1 (2016) is said to feature a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front facing camera - the same as the Galaxy J1. Although the company has not yet officially launched the smartphone, the handset's appearance in physical retail stores is clearly an indication that it will launch soon.
