While Samsung has already sent out launch invites for the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 successor at Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event on September 3, another rumoured successor - the Galaxy Mega 2 - has been spotted in the database of China's Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center, along with specifications.
The alleged Galaxy Mega 2 device, spotted by PhoneArena, bore model number SM-G7508Q for China, was claimed to soon release for China Mobile with TDD-LTE support (1900/ 2300/ 2600MHz) standard. It seems that alleged Galaxy Mega 2 will also have a similar model number internationally. Notably, one variant with model number SM-G750A thought to be Galaxy Mega 2 was also spotted in FCC certification and Samsung's UA profile, last month.
The alleged Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 images posted in report are accompanied by claims of a 5.98-inch (720x1280 pixels) display, instead of the 5.9-inch as previously seen in the a Galaxy Mega 2 GFXBench listing.
The report also claims that Samsung is only making one Galaxy Mega smartphone this time, which in form factor will sit comfortably between the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. The back of the alleged Galaxy Mega 2 seems to be using the same faux-leather back texture as was first introduced with Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in September last year.
With the latest leak, PhoneArena also details the other specifications of the smartphone spotted at the China Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center site, which match the earlier seen GFXBench specifications for model number SM-G7508. The alleged Galaxy Mega 2 is said to be powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz; a 13-megapixel rear camera with flash; a 5-megapixel front-facing camera; 2GB of RAM; 8GB of internal storage; microSD card support, and Android 4.4 KitKat.Get your daily dose of tech news, reviews, and insights, in under 80 characters on Gadgets 360 Turbo.
