While it has been quite some time since Samsung announced its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, earlier this year, the first round of rumoured specifications have now emerged for the firm's next flagship, expected to be called the Galaxy S6, which is reportedly codenamed Project Zero.

Notably, Samsung is known for keeping similar codenames for its flagship devices like Project J (Galaxy S4), Project H (Galaxy Note 3), Project K (Galaxy S5) and Project T (Galaxy Note 4). With the name Project Zero, it is being speculated the company is building the Galaxy S6 from scratch.

Apart from the project name, Sammobile's sources at Samsung have also provided have also provided some "preliminary specifications" of the Galaxy S6.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is tipped to feature a QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution panel with no confirmation on the display size. The camera sensor on the smartphone is said to be the Sony IMX240, the same used in Galaxy Note 4. However, the firm is yet to decide between a 16-megapixel and a 20-megapixel rear camera. The front-facing camera of Galaxy S6 might be a 5-megapixel snapper, something already seen with company's recently-launched Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 device.

As for the built-in storage, Samsung is being said to to ditch the 16GB variant for the Galaxy S6, and only provide 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.

The Galaxy S6 is said to be powered by 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor (four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores), and another variant featuring a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor is expected. The company is also said to be using its own LTE modem (model SS333, or Exynos Modem 333) on the Exynos chipset, ditching the Intel modems used by current chipsets. A power-efficient Broadcom BCM4773 chip combining Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi is also expected to be onboard.
