Samsung is reportedly getting ready to launch a new 'A series' of smartphones starting with device model number SM-A500, with a design similar to the recently launched metal-clad Galaxy Alpha.

On Monday, Sammobile reported that the alleged Samsung device with model number SM-A500 will be the first to launch in the alleged new A series. The report also included purported specifications of the SM-A500, suggesting it to have a full metal body design, without a removable back cover. The smartphone will reportedly feature a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display; a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor; an 8-megapixel rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera; 16GB of internal storage, and a 2,330mAh battery.

The report also claims that the SM-A500 will have a hybrid card slot, which will accommodate both a microSD card and a nano-SIM card. Additionally, the smartphone is said not to have fingerprint and heart rate sensors and it will be not be water and dust-resistant. However, it will reportedly feature the Ultra Power Saving Mode option similar to Galaxy S5.

Previously, Sammobile had reported that the Galaxy Alpha was actually the first device in Samsung's alleged new A series of smartphones and the company will initially launch three devices with model numbers SM-A300, SM-A500, and SM-A700, in the coming weeks.

The report had mentioned that SM-A300 will come with a qHD (540x960 pixels) display, while the other two (SM-A500 and SM-A700) will come with HD (720x1280 pixels) displays. It had also included the SM-A500F listing on Samsung's UA profile page, with HD resolution and Android 4.4 KitKat.
