Samsung has announced that it will release the final Tizen 4.0 version with Microsoft's .NET support in September later this year. The company has updated the developer website with a roadmap that details the upcoming preview versions of the all-new Tizen 4.0. According to the roadmap, "The first official version of Tizen .NET will be released in September 2017 as a part of Tizen 4.0." Samsung says that it will be releasing several preview or beta versions of Tizen 4.0 on every two or three months to make developers familiar with Tizen .NET.

Samsung has been pushing its Tizen OS against the market leader - Google Android. The South Korean company has succeeded in increasing the user base of its Tizen OS, which is claimed to power 50 million Samsung devices. The company is now preparing to close the curtain on Tizen 3.0 and introduce Tizen 4.0 later this year. For the uninitiated, Samsung's Tizen is an open source operating system based on Linux.

In its roadmap, Tizen has listed the details of previews expected in coming months. The upcoming Tizen 4.0 version with .NET will support ARM and x86 processors while will also supporting Xamarin.Forms 2.5.0 (or higher). With .NET support, developers working on the Tizen platform will now have the option to create applications using the .NET framework; HTML5 and C were the only supported languages till now.

To recall, Samsung Electronics announced its collaboration with Microsoft on open source project .NET last year. The company at that time also announced plans that Tizen's .NET support will be officially released and shipping on Samsung devices including Smart TVs in 2017. Notably, Google also become a member of .NET Foundation's Technical Steering Group at same time as Samsung.
