Sony introduced the Xperia Z smartphone as the company's latest flagship device at CES earlier this month. Now, it seems that the company is also investing its efforts to concentrate on the tablet domain.

A fresh set of leaks have emerged on the Xperia Tablet Z detailing specifications of the Android-powered tablet. The tablet not just looks similar to its younger Xperia Z sibling but has more or less the same specifications as well.

The specs that came via two separate tweets from @Xperia_info indicate that it will be just 6.9mm thin and also be waterproof and dustproof adhering to the IP55.IP57 standard just like the Xperia Z smartphone.

The tablet is expected to feature a 10.1-inch full-HD (1920x1080) display running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. It is likely to come with an 8.1-megapixel rear and 2.2-megapixel front cameras.

Underneath its shell, the Xperia Tablet Z is likely to be powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core APQ8064 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is rumoured to come with a 6,000mAh battery and support Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/, Bluetooth 4.0, NF and LTE as well.

Though Sony has yet to make any official announcement about the Xperia Tablet Z, but if these specs eventually do feature on the Xperia Tablet Z, then consumers are looking at a powerful machine. We hope to get a glimpse of the device at next month's MWC.

The Xperia Tablet Z features a worthy upgrade in comparison to its predecessor, the Xperia Tablet S, which had a previous-gen NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1280×800 resolution and was launched running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at the time.

Sony ventured into the tablet arena with the Android-based Tablet P (Review I Pictures) and Tablet S that came to India in December 2011. The company then debuted the Xperia Tablet S in August last year and began selling its latest Android tablet on September 7 in the United States followed by launches in Japan, Europe and elsewhere.
