BSNL & Micromax Launch Bharat-1, Mi MIX 2 First Sale, Moto X4 India Launch Date, and More: Your 360 Daily

BSNL and Micromax have partnered to launch the Bharat 1, a feature phone with 4G VoLTE capability at Rs. 2,200, to rival the Jio Phone. As part of the deal, Micromax says it will offer "unlimited" data and calling at Rs. 97 per month with BSNL, and supports over 22 Indian languages. The Bharat 1 is powered by an entry-level Snapdragon processor, and has a 2,000mAh battery, a 2-megapixel rear and a VGA front camera. The new Bharat 1 phone will also have access to over 100 live TV channels, alongside hours of songs and videos. At the launch event, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma claimed that the Bharat 1 will cost less than Jio Phone over time, given the lower cost of running it.

Mi MIX 2 goes on sale in India, already sold out
Xiaomi's bezel-less flagship Mi MIX 2 went on sale for the first time in India on Tuesday via Flipkart and Mi.com at Rs. 35,999, as part of a "preview sale". The Mi MIX 2 was sold out in less than 3 minutes, the company's India head Manu Kumar Jain said in a tweet, adding that the next sale will be held on October 24; Jain did not say how many units were put up for sale. Mi MIX 2 runs MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat, has a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display, Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and dual-SIM capability.

Moto X4 India launch scheduled for November 13
Lenovo has announced that it will now launch the Moto X4 in India on November 13, after being pushed back from its original launch date of October 3. The Moto X4 is unique in the sense that it supports both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, the latter of which is arriving in India at the end of October. It's likely the arrival of Alexa prompted Lenovo to delay the launch.

New Nokia phone launching in China this week
HMD Global has sent out invites for the launch of a new phone in China on October 19, which some believe to be the Nokia 7, given the presence of the letters 'qi' on the TMALL page, which refer to the number seven in Chinese. Other reports say that it could merely be an upgraded 6GB-RAM and 128GB-storage version of the Nokia 8 that recently launched in Europe, and is now making its way to China.

Huawei makes Mate 10 Lite official
After unveiling new flagships on Monday, Huawei has now unveiled an affordable model: the Mate 10 Lite. The phone has a 5.9-inch 18:9 screen with full-HD+ (1080x2160) resolution, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 3,340mAh battery, and runs on Huawei's own Kirin 659 chip. For optics, there's a 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensor on the back, and a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensor on the front. It costs EUR 400 (about Rs. 30,570), and will be available November in Europe.

HTC to launch two new U11 models; U Ultra gets massive discount in India
HTC is gearing up to launch two new devices: the U11 Plus, and the U11 Life. They would help broaden the current U11 line-up, with the former being an upgraded version of the flagship that has one of the best smartphone cameras around, and the latter being an Android One model. HTC has sent invites for a November 2 launch where it's expected to launch the U11 Plus. The U11 Life is expected to have Snapdragon 630, and 16-megapixel front and rear cameras.

On the occasion of Dhanteras, HTC slashed the price of its second-most recent flagship – the HTC U Ultra – down to Rs. 29,999, a discount of 43 per cent given its usual sale price of Rs. 52,990. It's available from both Flipkart and HTC's online store. But that discount is only valid for Tuesday, so you should hurry up before the day runs out. One of our complaints with the U Ultra during its review was its price tag, so it's certainly worth looking at now.

WPA2 'Krack' flaw already patched by Microsoft
Microsoft has already patched the newly-discovered flaw in the WPA2 Wi-Fi security protocol, it announced after the KRACK (Key Reinstallation Attack) flaw was made public on Monday. If you've automatic updates enabled, you've nothing to worry about. Apple has issued a fix in the developer betas of iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, which will be made public soon. Google said it would patch its own Pixel devices with the November 6 Android security update, with other devices in the hands of manufacturers.

iPhone 7 outselling 8 in US; iPhone X units ship out
The older iPhone 7 is outselling the newly-launched iPhone 8 in the US, according to a report by broker KeyBanc Capital Markets, going by carrier store surveys. The reason for iPhone 8 not proving popular enough is two-fold: customers don't feel it has enough improvements on the iPhone 7, while others are waiting for the iPhone X to see which model to buy this year.

Meanwhile, Chinese news agency Xinhua is reporting that the first batch of iPhone X units – totalling at 46,500 – have shipped out of the country, to meet their availability date of November 3. The small amount has been linked to Apple's production issues, which involve the TrueDepth 3D camera system on the iPhone X.

Netflix adds 5.3 million subscribers
Netflix added more new subscribers than it expected in Q3 2017 with 5.3 million, the streaming service announced as part of its earnings call. Wall Street had a projected target of 4.5 million. Netflix said it hopes to add 6.3 million subscribers in the current quarter, which will bring its total to 115.6 million worldwide.

Google Chrome for Windows gets cleanup tool
Google has added the Chrome Cleanup tool to its Windows browser, which helps remove harmful software to provide a safer browsing experience. Though it uses a detection engine developed by security firm ESET, it's worth noting that it cannot replace a standalone anti-virus utility, which monitors your system in real-time to fight threats. Chrome on Windows also helps revert changes made by extensions that didn't notify the user.
