Moss, who plays the lead Offred in The Handmaid's Tale, was nominated alongside Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser in Outlander), Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown), Maggie Gyllenhaal (Eileen "Candy" Merrell in The Deuce), and Katherine Langford (Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why).

In her acceptance speech, Moss quoted Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid's Tale. "This is for Margaret Atwood and all the women who came before and after you who were bold enough to come forward," said Moss. "We are no longer the stories in the margins. We are the stories in print."

The 35-year-old actress adds to her previous Emmy win for Best Actress in a Drama Series. This is Moss' second Golden Globe win after her 2014 win for Best Actress – Miniseries/ TV film for Top of the Lake.

The Handmaid's Tale was selected in our best TV shows of 2017. In our review, we called the show "a terrific argument against orthodoxy", one which improves and expands upon the book while being faithful to it. "It argues for us to be eternally vigilant, and by way of Offred’s tale, it shows us why that’s so important," we concluded.

The show was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for Ann Dowd's performance as Aunt Lydia, but lost out to Laura Dern (Big Little Lies). The HBO series has the most number of nominations (6) for any TV series at the 75th Golden Globe Awards.
