Doom: PC Requirements and Launch Time Revealed

The reboot to the well-known first-person shooter franchise - Doom - releases next week on May 13, and we finally have access to the system requirements PC owners will need to play the game. Bethesda has also provided the date and time for as to when you can start preloading the game, and when you can actually hit play.

Here's everything you need to know:

Minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7/ 8.1/ 10 (64-bit versions)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400/ AMD FX-8320 or better
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 2GB/ AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better
  • Memory: 8GB of RAM
  • Storage: 55GB free HDD space

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB/ AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB or better
  • Memory: 8GB of RAM
  • Storage: 55GB free HDD space

You can get the game from Steam or opt for a physical purchase. Even if you choose the latter - which Bethesda says is a single disc - you will have to download additional files from Steam, totalling 45GB, to be able to run the game. The game also requires a broadband Internet connection for multiplayer play and SnapMap. On the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, you will need 50GB free space to install the game.

Steam preloading: 12am ET on May 11, which is 9:30pm in India

PC launch time:

  • India at 4:30am IST
  • Australia/New Zealand at 12am AEST
  • North America at 12am ET
  • Europe at 12am GMT +1
  • Japan/South Korea/Rest of Asia - 12am JST

PlayStation 4 preloading:
