In an announcement late on Tuesday night, Japanese electronics giant Sony brought good news for PC gamers on two accounts.

The company's cloud gaming service - PlayStation Now (PS Now) - is coming to Windows PCs (just as a leak had revealed) for players in Europe and North America, and it is also launching a wireless adaptor for the its DualShock 4 controller for both Windows and OS X.

Until now, the PlayStation Now game streaming service had been restricted to Sony's own devices in PS3, PS4, PS Vita and PS TV. That will soon change though. Windows PC owners will be able to enjoy titles such as Uncharted and God of War franchise, if your system can match the rather modest requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 3.5 GHz, AMD A10 3.8GHz or faster
  • HDD space: 300MB or more
  • RAM: 2GB or more
  • Sound card and a USB port

There's no mention of a graphics card as the games are streamed over the Internet, instead of drawing processing power locally. Sony noted that you will need a minimum 5Mbps Internet connection to be able to run PS Now.

There is no word on when PC owners can expect to enjoy over 400 PlayStation titles, though the price of $19.99 a month should remain the same. It's unlikely the service will be offered in India any time soon, so your best bet is an unlimited VPN.

As for the new DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor, it will release sometime early next month and will cost $24.99 (approx. Rs. 1,680), the same price as an Xbox Wireless Adaptor. It will support all of the controller's functions, including the buttons, analogue sticks, touch pad, light bar, motion sensors, vibration, and the stereo headset jack. The new adaptor supports both PS Now and PS4 Remote Play.
