Rise of the Tomb Raider - the second chapter in the new action-based Tomb Raider series - will be available for Microsoft Windows PC owners next month, according to the game's listing page on Steam.

There isn't a specific indication of any date, and the game's store front on the digital game distribution platform just states a January 2016 release. Neither the developer - Crystal Dynamics - nor the publisher - Square Enix - have made any formal announcements on the PC version of the Tomb Raider sequel.

The last word from Square Enix on the matter was back in July when the Tokyo-based company said Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a timed exclusive for Microsoft's Xbox One. It mentioned then a winter holiday 2016 release for the PlayStation 4, and an "early 2016" release for Windows gamers.

If the Steam listing is to be believed, then it's great news for computer players who can also expect to see some downloadable content in the form of Baba Yaga: Temple of the Witch as it comes out for the Xbox One version of the game next month.

Although there isn't any mention on the price of the PC version as yet, it may be in line with other recent Square Enix games such as Just Cause 3 or the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at Rs. 999 on Steam. And if you're looking to get your hands on a physical copy, be ready to shell out a bit more at Rs. 1,499.

Rise of the Tomb Raider originally released last month on Xbox One. In our review, we gave it a 7 out of 10, on account of "the narrative [being] one of the high points of this game" but "a short campaign and threadbare replayability" wasn't enough to justify its high price point of Rs. 4,699.

If the cost of the Windows version is indeed lower, then the new Tomb Raider game is worth checking out on your computer.
