Google's updated and wider set of emoji characters, which we recently saw added to its Hangouts service, has now reached the company's widely used Gmail. The search giant also introduced some new features to give the users' accounts a fresh look.

With the latest Gmail for Web update, Google has brought a new set of themes with high-resolution images, some of which have been clicked by Google employees themselves. As before, the option to upload your own images remains. Not only new themes, but after selecting a background image, Google gives users editing options such as blur, vignette, and text background to help mix and match.

As for the new set of emoji characters, the Gmail update has brought its recently introduced blob-like emojis to the email service. Users can insert the emojis while composing a mail. The inserting option can be found at the bottom bar along with other options like linking, attachment, Google Drive, and others. Google will be rolling out the update globally over the new few days.

Google has been working to make the emailing experience better for both desktop and mobile users. Last week, the firm made its 'Undo Send' an official Gmail feature. 'Undo Send' had been in Gmail Labs for the past six years since it was introduced in March 2009. On Android, the company added Oauth support for all Yahoo and Microsoft accounts. Google says Gmail's Oauth support adds an extra layer of protection and allows security features such as two-step verification and account recovery.

Additionally, Inbox by Gmail, Google's email management app, has received an update that adds two new shortcuts for writing an email and setting a reminder.
