Just hours ago we reported that Apple would be resolving the MacDefender malware problem. The Mac Security Blog now reports that MacDefender has been updated to bypass Apple's manual fix. In addition to that, the malware has become more potent as now it does not need the user to input their password. The update also includes a new alias for the software by the name of 'MacGuard'.

Apple earlier owned up to the existence of the MacDefender malware program plaguing its MacOSX operating system. In a statement, the company talked about the problem caused by the phishing program and would soon release a software upgrade that will eliminate the problem.

Apple claimed the malware's ultimate goal was to get the user's credit card information by duping users into believing it as an anti-virus solution.

The company also mentioned the fact that the software has various variants namely MacDefender, MacProtector and MacSecurity. Before the update release Apple has issued an interim resolution for the problem, which shows users how to avoid the malware or manually remove it.

Historically, MacOSX has been one of the most secure operating system platforms and often users have veered towards it because of the lack security problems it faces in comparison with Windows.

But over the past few years with the growing popularity of MacOSX platform it has become a soft target for malware as often people do not have any security apps activated on their Macs.
