Samsung unveiled the Chromebook 3 at CES 2016, the latest entrant in the company's Chromebook lineup, and promised that the laptop will go on sale soon. The new Chromebook 3 is now available to buy at $200 (approximately Rs. 14,000) via the company's online store, and is also expected to go on sale via Amazon. To compare, the Samsung Chromebook 2 was launched in 2014 at $400 (roughly Rs. 27,600).

The South Korean company at the launch had stressed that the Chromebook range has been gaining traction from consumers across different segments including students, families, and other consumers who seek out "easy-to-use, highly portable and affordable laptops." Samsung also added it recognised demand for Chromebooks when it launched the first-ever Chromebook device back in 2011.

As for the specifications, the Chromebook 3 measures 288.5x204.2x17.7mm, and weighs 1.4kg. Also worth underscoring is that the plastic body has been ditched in favour of a metal body, giving the notebook a more premium look and better resistance.

The Samsung Chromebook 3 sports an 11.6-inch HD (1366x768 pixels) display with anti-glare. It is powered by Intel Celeron N3050 processor, Intel HD Graphics, either 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and 16GB eMMC internal storage. There's a 33Whr battery as well, which as per Samsung's claims, will keep the Chromebook 3 running for up to 11 hours on a single charge - to put that in perspective, the Samsung Chromebook 2 offered up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge.

On the connectivity front, the Samsung Chromebook 3 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 ac 2x2 and Bluetooth 4.0. There's one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot.
