Asus back in February announced that it will roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for several ZenFone devices. The Taiwanese company has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Max smartphones. Notably, all the variants of the ZenFone 2 Laser featuring a 5-inch, 5.5-inch, and 6-inch displays will receive the update.

The company announced the news via its official ZenTalk forum and confirmed that the over-the-air (OTA) rollout may take up to one week to completely "auto push" to respective devices. Asus ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Max users can manually check for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update via Setting > About > System Update.

The release note says that the update brings Android 6.0 Marshmallow, apart from other features. The update for the ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Max also removes several preloaded apps such as Asus Email, Asus Calendar, and Asus Messaging. Asus suggests users to use Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Messenger for relevant services.

The company however warns users that Android Marshmallow won't support transfer of apps to microSD card. "Please move apps to internal storage before system upgrades," notes Asus.

To refresh on some of the features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow (previously just Android M) include revamped app permissions; Google Now on Tap feature; new Chrome feature that will change the Web experience for Android users; New Silent feature for sound and vibrate mode as well as a 'Do Not Disturb' mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications, new RAM manager, adoptable storage devices, new app drawer, auto backup, and restore for apps, and battery saver features called Doze that will make Android devices smart about managing power.
