It may not be pretty obvious, but it sure is official. After months of leaks and speculations, the HTC M7 may finally be announced at a special event to be hosted by the Taiwanese manufacturer in London on February 19. The company is also planning a simultaneous event in New York.

HTC has sent out invites for both the events. While the London event is scheduled to commence at 15:00pm (20:30 IST) on February 19, the New York event begins at 10am (21:00 IST). The invite simply states the date and timing details suggesting it will be a 2 hour event.

We've been hearing murmurs of HTC unveiling the M7 at a separate event for quite sometime now. Recent reports have been indicative of this fact and also that the device is likely to ship in the "second half of March 2013".

Like many others, HTC is planning a separate launch for its next full-HD flagship amongst fears of not being able to be under the spotlight and garner all the attention at the Mobile World Congress in Spain next month.

Just a day ago, we reported that the exterior parts of the HTC M7 were leaked in a detailed video that compared the device with the company's earlier One X (Review  I Pictures) and Droid DNA (aka Butterfly) smartphones (Also see: HTC Butterfly comes to India with 5-inch, full-HD display for Rs. 45,990). While the M7 was taller in comparison to the One X, it appears slightly shorter than the Droid DNA. The thickness seems more or less the same.

Other details in the video revealed a dedicated camera key and the volume rocker on the right, the power button and earphone jack on the top, the SIM card slot on the left and the Micro-USB port at the bottom. The screen is likely to measure 4.7-inches.

As far as rumoured specs go, the HTC M7 will be powered by a Qualcomm 1.7.GHz quad-core processor and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The smartphone will also come with a 4.7-inch SoLux 1080p full-HD 468ppi touch display, a 13-megapixel rear camera and will also support 4G LTE. Other specs include 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage and and a 2-megapixel one in the front. The smartphone is also rumoured to feature the company's latest Sense 5.0 UI.
