Lava on Wednesday launched a new budget smartphone in India, the Lava A79, priced at Rs. 5,699. The highlight of the smartphone is its large 5.5-inch display, and it will be available in Gold and Grey colour variants. Lava said the device will be available across retail stores in India, but did not mention an exact release date.

The dual-SIM Lava A79 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core SoC that's coupled with 1GB of RAM. It bears a 5.5-inch 480x800 pixel display, and features a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, apart from a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash.

The Lava A79 bears 8GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB), and 2200mAh battery. The smartphone offers the standard connectivity options, including 3G and GPS. The company is also touting the Smart Screenshot feature on the smartphone, which takes a screenshot of the entire page instead of just what's visible on the display.

Lava had launched the A67 smartphone earlier this month, and its biggest highlight is the front-facing LED flash alongside the 2-megapixel camera.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Lava A67 is a dual-SIM supporting smartphone that features a 5-inch IPS display with a WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of roughly 196ppi. The handset is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unspecified) clubbed with 512MB of RAM.

The smartphone includes 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB). The A67 sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash. It is backed by a 2000mAh battery which is rated to deliver a standby time of up to 170 hours.
