A new leak reveals two purported Android application package (APK) files, which appear to indicate Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S5 smartphone will equip a QHD display and fingerprint scanner.

The leak comes from popular phone tipster, @evleaks, who has tweeted the two the names of the APK files, allegedly sourced from a Galaxy S5 device, without revealing the exact functionality of the files. However, the names are quite indicative.

The first leaked APK file is FingerprintService.apk, suggesting that the alleged Galaxy S5 might include a fingerprint scanner. Earlier reports have suggested that the alleged fingerprint sensor could be playing below the rumoured Galaxy S5's display, while users would have to scan their fingerprints on the screen.

The second leaked APK file is 3DTourViewer_WQHD_K.apk, indicating that the alleged Galaxy S5 might feature QHD display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels, making the pixel density an incredible 560ppi at that resolution.

An earlier report cited KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predictions that claimed the Galaxy S5 might still be made of plastic, feature a 32-bit SoC, and come with fingerprint scanner.

Rumoured specifications of the Galaxy S5 include a 2K 5-inch or 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display, boasting of a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels (QHD), and a 2900mAh battery. Further, the alleged device is said to sport a 20-megapixel rear camera with 4K video record support, an Exynos 6 (believed to be the successor of the Exynos 5 octa-core chipsets) or Snapdragon 805 processors and Android 4.4 KitKat.

The alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 was earlier rumoured to come with eye-scanning feature, however reports suggested that the South Korean manufacturer was ready to bet on fingerprint scanner rather than the less viable eye-scanning feature.

Coming to the Galaxy S5's expected launch date, we point you to a recent report emphasising the conundrum Samsung's facing regarding the Galaxy S5's announcement place and date.
