Highlights
  • Yu Yunicorn is the company's latest flagship smartphone.
  • With all the hype created, it's expected to sport innovative features.
  • Not much is know about the handset right now.
Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures is set to launch its flagship smartphone, the Yu Yunicorn, on Tuesday at a New Delhi event that starts at 11am IST.

To recall, the Yu had postponed its event from last week due to election results being out on the same day. Over the weekend, Yu Founder Rahul Sharma had teased via Twitter that users can say goodbye to wallets, hinting at the integration of the Udio wallet in the smartphone.

Also on the weekend, the company posted a short teaser video showcasing the Yu Yunicorn, and we can clearly see the metal frame and rear panel of the smartphone, a oblong home button that should bear the fingerprint sensor, and what could be termed an iPhone-like design.

The company from its Yu Play God Twitter handle on Monday also revealed that the Yunicorn will be available via Flipkart.

For now, not much else is known about the new flagship from Yu. Till date, the company has shared a few other teasers, and one hinted that the Yunicorn flagship might be priced competitively.

Yu has already confirmed that the next flagship will run Android with a deep integration of Around Yu, a service aggregator platform that was introduced last year alongside the Yutopia smartphone. Yu is expected to sell the Yunicorn flagship via online channels only.

The company had recently also detailed its "Project Highway" which is a way the company wants to enable the community developers and others to contribute to the company's source code.

Talking about the new Yu smartphone, company founder Rahul Sharma had previously said, "It's insanely beautiful and it will break some hearts. It will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules...WAIT, it will break the flagships."

Talking to Gadgets 360 about the upcoming flagship, Sharma had said that the company would focus on offering "pure Android experience." He further hinted that the Around Yu will come with some new features.
