The Amazing Artificial Intelligence That We Were Promised Is Finally Here

By Sponsored Content | Updated: 30 March 2017 17:29 IST

From the first mobile notification in the morning, to the closing sliver of light from under a laptop lid at night, electrons - invisible and inevitable - travel at the speed of light and bring us closer to the distant future. Foraying into the future and into the world of artificial intelligence, Panasonic on March 27 introduced 'Arbo' and brought the future to the present.

This new virtual assistant in town will make smartphones smarter and play a more productive role in a user's life. It will be available on Panasonic smartphones starting with Eluga Ray X and Eluga Ray Max which will be released in the second week of April.

"Our vision is to augment the life of our customers with intelligence at their fingertips. Arbo means a tree that grows more as you nurture it," Pankaj Rana, Business Head, Mobility Division, Panasonic India says. "Arbo reads your habits and learns from you. It is like you and it likes you."

What was one just a figment of our imagination will take roots in our everyday lives, all thanks to Arbo's artificial intelligence. We might still be a few years away from having robots at our beck and call, but Arbo will bridge that gap by serving as our personal assistant and will have a profound impact in our lives in more ways than one. Everything we love about civilisation, and our everyday lives, is a product of intelligence. So amplifying our human intelligence with Arbo's artificial intelligence will help us flourish like never before.

How Arbo works
The virtual assistant is a self-learning technology that understands users' behaviour and then maps their daily activities for them accordingly. With its 'location identification' feature, it recognises the places often visited by the user and sends out prompt responses asking them to make changes to their phone settings. The AI-powered assistant takes care of all the daily tasks and activities like calls and messages that need to be framed and sent out on a regular basis. It also keeps a detailed list of all the applications running on the smartphone, gathers detailed information on their habits, and informs them about it accordingly.

Let's say a user orders lunch from Swiggy or Zomato every Friday to avail a certain offer, Arbo will remember it and notify them every Friday so they don't miss out on the deal.

In a nutshell, Arbo will shadow your every move, study your habits, your likes/ dislikes and send timely prompts to keep your day in line.

As of now Arbo will be available only with Panasonic Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X.

The Eluga Ray Max is priced at Rs. 11,499 (32GB) and Rs. 12,499 (64GB) while the Eluga Ray X will cost Rs. 8,999.

The Eluga Ray Max offers a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen and is powered by 1.4GHz 64bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB and 32GB internal storage variants that can be expanded by up to 128GB. It runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The Eluga Ray X offers a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen, runs on a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core SoC with 3GB of RAM and 4000mAh battery. It runs Android 6.0.

Both these phones will be exclusively available via Flipkart.com from the next month.
