Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, will soon be honoured by the US Postal Service. In a recently uncovered document, purportedly a filing of the US Postal Services' The Citizen's Stamp Advisory Committee, names of prominent figures from across the globe were featured. They were divided in three categories, Red for in design development, Green for design approved and Black for not yet in design. It appears that on Thursday the US Postal Service, approved the commemorative Steve Jobs stamp, which featured in the Red category, and will be part of a collectible series next year.

Jobs, who founded Apple (then Apple Computers) along with his friend Steve Wozniak, passed away in 2011 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. Over the decades he was involved with building the Apple Macintosh, which recently celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. A video of the actual launch of the first Macintosh also went viral then.

He was publicly ousted from Apple in the mid-80s, then founded Next Computers, was the owner of Pixar Animation Studios, before coming back to Apple in the mid-90s. Subsequently, with the Think Different campaign, the iPod, iMac, MacBook, iPhone and iPad devices he has left behind a tech legacy for the modern times.

In the list that was uncovered by the Washington Post, of mailbox honourees, there were names like James Brown, Elvis Presley and Shirley Chisholm. Reports also mentioned 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer', 'Favourite Desserts' and others.

Jobs' name is in the Red list (in design development) under the category of Social Awareness. This is not the first honour that has come the way of the charismatic leader of Apple. He was posthumously honoured with a special Grammy Merit Award, a Disney Legends Award, inducted into the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame, featured in a US Patent Office Museum exhibit and has a building at Pixar named after him.
