Dropbox, with its latest update for Android and iOS apps, has added a couple of new features aimed to offer better collaboration experience between users and more.

The latest app version 3.0.1 of Dropbox comes with the ability to add comments to files for better coordination between users working on the same document. Under comments users can tag others by @mentioning their names. The feature had begun rolling out for desktop users back in April .

One of the highlights of the Dropbox app update is the inclusion of native gif previews. Previously, users would need third-party apps to view gif files in Dropbox. The updated app also comes with bug fixes and performance improvements. The update, at the time of writing is only visible for Android under its Google Play app listing. However, it should reach iOS soon as well.

In May, Dropbox announced a universal app for its Windows version, which means that users can download the same app on all Windows devices.

Also included was the ability for Windows 8.1 users to create and manage shared folders within the app. The app also has added support for common keyboard shortcuts ctrl+A (select all) and ctrl+F (search). For Windows Phone 8.1 users, the app brings the ability to upload all kinds of files, not just photos. An extension of that feature is the ability to directly download files to the device or its microSD card. Users can also select multiple files and upload them concurrently, which is great for those who rely on Dropbox.
