Twitter on Thursday started rolling out an update for its iPhone app, calling it the "biggest update to profiles to date." The updated Twitter for iPhone app (version 6.13.3) is now available on the App Store and is about 21MB in size.

The new Twitter for iPhone update primarily brings a revamped user profile design. Announcing the news on its official blog, the micro-blogging site notes, "Featuring a fresh design, the updated profiles focus on your bio, Tweets and photos, making it easy for you to get a glimpse into the people you care about on Twitter."

"You can see a bio as soon as you get to the profile - it's no longer a swipe away. The timelines for tweets, photos and favourites are easy to get to, and you can access them from wherever you are in that profile," adds the official blog. The updated Twitter for iPhone app with the profile redesign will be available for iOS 7 and higher users.

Utilising the latest iOS 8 release, Twitter has also announced the interactive push notifications feature for iOS 8 users only. The new Twitter interactive notifications for iPhone allow users to access tweets from the lock screen, and the new notifications centre, while the update also lets users reply to tweets from the push notification alert or even favourite and follow without opening the app.

The blog notes, "You will now be able to interact directly with push notifications from Twitter, meaning you can retweet, favourite, follow and more, directly from these notifications if you have iOS 8."

Recently, Twitter started testing "buy buttons" that allowed people to make purchases directly from marketing posts on the micro-blogging site.

Not too long ago, Twitter rolled out new features for its iOS app enhancing the attachment sharing and video viewing experience for users.
