Cab aggregator services company Uber on Monday said it has signed a partnership with Apollo Hospitals to provide free rides to and fro for people visiting its hospitals in 11 cities for a check.

The cities are: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mysuru, New Delhi, Pune, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam.

"Starting today, people who have not signed up with Uber yet, will be able to avail a free ride to and from any Apollo Hospital across 11 cities in India on booking a health check. All new Uber users will be provided with a promo code by Apollo which will give them two free rides worth Rs. 250 each," Uber said in a statement here.

"We are excited to partner with Apollo Hospitals and provide more Indians with convenient access to quality healthcare. Our efforts in this space began a few months ago and we look forward to working closely with more partners in the healthcare sector in the future," an Uber spokesperson said in the statement.

"Apollo Hospitals is committed to providing excellent service to its customers. The tie up with Uber, will help people travel comfortably to the Apollo Hospital or Clinic of their choice, when they come to do their health checks. This should help more customers to avail of Apollo's Personalised Health Check, so that they can be empowered with the knowledge of their health status and live healthy," said Dr. Udhaya Balasubramaniam, Director, Preventive Medicine, Apollo Hospitals.

Uber last week, following the launch of number masking by Ola, launched its own version of the service - called disguised phone numbers. "This new safety technology will help provide increased security before, during and after the ride," said Deval Delivala, Uber's India Safety Lead.
