LEMONStella Buck (Aug 24, 2019) on AmazonHave always had a Panasonic (which I LOVED) but after 10 years, mine died so I bought an ASUS based on recommendations from several folks at work and based on reviews online. Big mistake. This laptop was a lemon from the minute I took it out of the box. Day two of use and the computer shuts down randomly while on battery power. Thought it was a fluke, but it continued doing this. Googled and found that this is a known issue with ASUS laptops and requires several work-arounds to "fix" the issue. Have also found that the touchpad will randomly stop working and requires a reboot to get it functional again. 7 months after purchase I started noticing that after turning the computer off for travel, the date and time would be lagging when I started it back up. Evidently this is a bad CMOS battery...after only 7 months. The CD drive has always randomly popped open at the slightest movement of the laptop and now this week it popped open and won't stay latched closed. So my nice new $700 laptop won't stay on while on battery power, needs a new CMOS battery, and has to have the CD-drive drawer taped shut.Maybe I just got a lemon or maybe ASUS is selling bad products. Either way I'd avoid this laptop and any other ASUS products and invest in another brand.Is this review helpful?
