  • You can send gift cards of value up to Rs. 50,000 digitally

Diwali is just a couple of days away, and if you have not been able to decide a gift for your loved ones, you can always choose to send some cash their way. But if you are not able to visit each of your friends and family members this Diwali, you can still send some cash to them via apps. With the rising popularity of online wallets and government initiatives such as UPI, it is not difficult to send online cash that can be used on multiple platforms. We list a few apps you can use to send money as Diwali gift this season.

Paytm Lifafa
One of the most popular online wallets, Paytm is an easy choice if you want to send cash as Diwali gift. It can be used to buy goods, book tickets for trips, pay bills, and so on, and is accepted across the country in offline stores too. And instead of just sending the money as a regular transfer, you have the option of using Paytm Lifafa.

A little more personal way to send your Diwali gift, Lifafa lets you write a personalised message with the money as well. All you need to do is to open the Paytm app, tap on Lifafa, type in the number of the recipient (or select their name from contacts), enter the amount, and select the theme. The Best Wishes theme is the most appropriate for the occasion as Paytm has not launched a Diwali theme for this product yet. The amount will be deducted from your wallet, and if the recipient doesn’t open the Lifafa in 10 days, the sum will be returned to you. The recipient will have to open Lifafa in the Paytm app to claim the amount.

Amazon Gift Card
An Amazon Gift Card is another option that will likely to be used by the recipient. You can send up to Rs. 20,000 in a single gift card, which will be deposited in the recipient’s account as Amazon Pay balance. This sum can then be used to buy anything on the e-commerce site. The site has a host of Diwali themes to choose from, and you can enter a personal message too. Amazon Pay balance received in the gift card can be used for up to 365 days, and the user will get further cash backs and discounts on Amazon for using their Pay Balance.

Flipkart Gift Card
Flipkart also has a gift card that lets you send credit that can be used on the platform, valid for one year. You can send up to Rs. 10,000 as Diwali gift with the Flipkart gift card, and write a personal message too. However, there is no custom theme for the festival to make the card feel more personal.

Hike Blue Packets
Hike has a wallet feature called Blue Packets that can be used to send money to your near and dear ones. You will have to open the Wallet section of the app, and hit Blue Packets, where you need to enter the amount name of the recipients. However, there is no theme here that would be suitable for Diwali, and you cannot write a personal note either.

You can send up to Rs. 50,000 via the MakeMyTrip gift cards, and the amount can be used booking flights, trains, buses, hotels, etc. on the website. You can send a personalised message here too, and the validity of the sum is 12 months. ClearTrip has a gift card too, but without the Diwali theme.

Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle E-Gift Vouchers
Shoppers Stop E-Gift Vouchers can also be sent as a Diwali gift as well, though the amount is capped at Rs. 5,000. The amount will be redeemable on purchases made on the Shoppers Stop website for up to 1 year from the date on which the card was issued. Lifestyle also has an e-gift card that can be redeemed in offline stores, but the maximum amount is just Rs. 2,500.
