Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced on Monday that Amazon India has surpassed its rivals to become India's most visited e-commerce platform. The achievement comes roughly two years and a half after Amazon, world's largest e-commerce website, forayed in the country. To celebrate the occasion, the company said in a letter on the site that it is giving away an Amazon Gift Card worth Rs. 200 to customers.

Any customer who places an order for a product worth Rs. 500 or more on Monday will get an Amazon.in Gift Card worth Rs. 200. The Gift Card will be added to a customer's account by January 20, 2016, the company said. A user can only avail one Gift Card, do note. Users can, however, opt for cash on delivery (CoD) payment mode, however.

In a letter, which is posted on Amazon India's homepage, Bezos has provided stats from comScore to show Amazon India's lead over Flipkart, Snapdeal, Jabong. comScore is a marketing data and analytics firm. It is worth pointing out that Amazon India was also the most visited e-commerce site in India in the busy October festive shopping season, according to comScore's data.

"Just two and a half years from our launch, Amazon.in has become the most visited e-commerce site in India. This customer response continues to amaze and energize us," Bezos said.
