HP Omen Gaming Laptop, Pavilion 15 With B&O Play Series Launched in India

HP India and Bang & Olufsen on Wednesday announced the launch of the new Pavilion series of laptops with B&O Play, and the HP Omen gaming laptop also with Bang & Olufsen audio.The two companies had teamed up back in March.

The HP Omen gaming laptop is available in a single configuration, and has been priced at Rs. 1,59,990. On the other hand, the HP Pavilion 15 with B&O Play has been launched in three variants, starting from Rs. 44,490. All the laptops run 64-bit Windows 8.1.

Being called the PC maker's first true gaming laptop, the HP Omen was first unveiled globally in November last year. The model launched in India, the HP Omen 15-5116TX, features a 15.6-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixel) LED-backlit IPS display with capacitive multi-touch.

The HP Omen 15-5116TX runs on a fourth-generation Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor (4 cores, 8 threads, 2.6GHz base clock, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz, 6MB Cache), coupled with 8GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM. It features a 256GB PCIe SSD (which HP claims is 2-3 times faster than a SATA-connected SSD). The gaming laptop also features a dedicated graphics card - an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M (N15P -GX) GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 video RAM.

Connectivity options on the HP Omen 15-5116TX include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Intel WiDi, Miracast, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, SD card reader, HDMI v1.4b port, Mini DisplayPort v1.2, four USB 3.0 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone/ microphone port. Users are expected to use the bundled HP USB Ethernet adaptor for LAN connectivity. It is powered by a 4-cell Lithium-ion battery, weighs 2.12kg, and measures 382.9x247.5x15.5mm.

The HP Omen 15-5116TX features dual front-facing Bang & Olufsen speakers with multicolour lighting, an extra wide touchpad, and HP TrueVision full-HD web camera. The keyboard on the HP Omen is a customisable RGB-backlit (seven zones of multicolour lighting) offering with key spacing and travel optimised for gaming, as well as six programmable function keys.

Coming to the HP Pavilion 15 with B&O Play series, the base model (ab027TX - Natural Silver, ab028TX - Blizzard White) priced at Rs. 44,490 runs on a fifth-generation 2.1GHz Intel Core i3-5010U processor (2 cores, 4 threads, 3MB cache) coupled with 4GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM. With two SODIMM slots available, users can choose to upgrade to 16GB. The laptop, which sports a 15.6-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixel) LED-backlit display, features discrete graphics in the form of the AMD Radeon R7 M360 with 2GB of DDR3 video RAM.

The HP Pavilion 15 with B&O Play's base model also features a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive, an 8x SuperMulti DVD Writer, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI v1.4 port, one headphone and microphone combo jack, and an RJ-45 Ethernet port. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with Miracast support, and Bluetooth 4.0. It features a 720p HD webcam with dual-array digital microphones. It is powered by a 4-cell Lithium-ion battery, weighs 2.29kgs, and measures 384.56x25.15x261.11mm.

The HP Pavilion 15 with B&O Play, (ab032TX - Natural Silver, ab030TX - Blizzard White) priced at Rs. 54,990, runs on a fifth-generation Intel Core i5-5200U processor (2 cores, 4 threads, 2.2GHz base clock, Turbo up to 2.7GHz, 3MB cache) coupled with 8GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM. With two SODIMM slots available, users can choose to upgrade to 16GB. It bears an Nvidia GeForce 940M GPU with 2GB of DDR4 video RAM. All other specifications are identical to the base model.

Finally, the HP Pavilion 15 (ab035TX - Natural Silver, ab034TX - Blizzard White) has been priced at Rs. 67,990, and features a fifth-generation Intel Core i7-5500U (2 cores, 4 threads, 2.4GHz base clock, Turbo up to 3GHz, 4MB cache) processor. All other specifications match the ab032TX/ ab030TX models.
