On Wednesday, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Toshiba is recalling battery packs in laptops sold between June 2011 and January 2016. There are almost 40 different models of laptops that have been affected including Portege, Satellite, and Tecra models.

The Toshiba laptop battery recall was issued after it was found out that the battery packs overheated and melt. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, around 91,000 laptop units have been affected in the US and the other 10,000 in Canada.

Toshiba will be proving the affected users free replacement of batteries. The company has provided a list of models that are affected with the battery issue, on the website. It is also offering users a tool to download and check if the particular system is safe or not. Users can also look at the bottom of the laptop for the Toshiba model sticker. They can then enter the model number on the company's dedicated website to check of the model is affected or not.
